Spring is coming and the Raymond Public Library is offering some new programs for the month of March. A Mental Wellness program is being offered on March 20 at 2:00 p.m. Also, a program titled “What Do I Do?” First Aid Training with Jim Pollard MS, NRP, which will focus on First Aid will be held March 25th at 1:30 p.m.

2024 New Year’s Resolution Series, health care program will be held March 20 at 2:00 p.m. Latina Williams and Scott Hohmann will host a presentation on personal self-care and how it is one of the key components to mental wellness.

Women’s History Month film series includes movies such as Hidden Figures, A League of Their Own on March 15, Miracle Worker on March 22, and Amelia on March 29. The movies start at 2:00 p.m. in the Activities Room of the library.

Don’t forget! Each Friday at 10:00 a.m. is Story Time for Pre-K and Kindergarten ages. In addition, for the Story Time participants, an Easter Egg Hunt will be held on March 22. The children will hear a story about how the Easter Bunny has lost his eggs, and he needs our help to find them before they go outside to search for the lost eggs. If anyone would like to donate stuffed plastic Easter eggs for the hunt, please remember NO PEANUT OR NUT CANDY. Bring stuffed eggs by March 21.

The afterschool chess group meets every Monday from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m. The chess coach is Mark Jordan. Chess builds your thinking and strategies skills.

Put “Shake-speare on the Lawn” on April 4 at 6 p.m. on your calendar.

A Concert on the Lawn will be held in May. Watch for more information on these new events.

Friends of the Raymond Mississippi Library is a non-profit organization which strives to assist the Raymond Public Library in its programming, materials, and events. It will meet March 20 at 4:00 p.m. in the library’s activities room.Please consider being an active member of an important organization. Member-ship fees are collected annually. An individual member is $5.00, family membership is $10, student fee is $2, and a business membership is $25.

The Raymond Public Library is a part of the Jackson Hinds Library System and this branch is managed by Tasha Bass. The library is located at 126 West Court Street (at the back of the county courthouse annex). Its hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The library is closed each day from noon to 1:00 p.m. for lunch and on Saturdays and Sundays. Don’t forget to sign up for a library card. It can be used at all Jackson Hinds Libraries.
