We had a good service today at Progress. Bro. Dan brought a message from Ephesians 5 on being Careful, Thoughtful, and Thankful. Our choir sang “Because He Lives” and they get better every week. We thank them so much for this very special time.

I want to change something from last week. Mike and Chris Oliver are the great grandparents of Harrison Eric and Mason Charles along with Mason’s sisters McKenzie Grace and Hailey Claire. Jonathon and Josh Hill are their grandsons. I need to have a long talk with my computer. lol
Sweet 7 year old Harper Hart, daughter of Candi Rimes (niece of Bernice Knippers) will be
going to Boston for pre-op appointments everyday from January 11 to the 17 at Boston Children’s Hospital, and her open heart surgery is scheduled for Jan. 18, 2022. Please keep her and her mother in your prayers while they go through this so far from home and family.

A lot of families in the Progress area had family gatherings on the 24th-26th. We had ours on the 24th which was wonderful and the candles were lit at the cemetery at 5 pm. There was a candle on every grave and so pretty. There was a large crowd there to remember loved ones on this special night. We sang “Silent Night” led by Bro. Richie Fortenberry and Bro. Dan ended it with a prayer. I can’t describe the peaceful feeling that it gives us by taking time to remember all our family and friends we will meet again someday.

Sympathy is ex-pressed to Treasure and Tabatha for the loss of their grandfather Cecil Brown on 12-20-2021 at the age of 94. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.

Denna Morgan Fortenberry passed away on December 22 at the age of 48. She was a sweet person and Norma Fortinberry and I taught her daughters Alexis and Kelsi in preschool Sunday school at Progress BC. It seems like yesterday but it has been over 20 years ago. Her husband David is a distant cousin to me. Prayers for these 2 families.

This week Kendra Fortenberry’s mom Becky Poole will have knee surgery. Prayers for her please. I can relate to this and it takes a lot of rehab.

Progress BC will be starting a Bible Study Jan. 5th at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall. It will be a study on “Counter Culture” by using videos and discussion, etc.
