Hinds County B-BB Tournament
In the opener the Hinds High Eaglettes downed the Raymond Rangerettes46-32. The Utica Gold Wave rolled over the St. Joseph Rebels 61-55, the Byram Bulldogs edged out the St. Joseph Rebelettes 38-31and the Raymond Rangers came out on top with a 3733 score of the Byram Bulldogs in the upset of the tourney.
In the opener between the Raymond and Hinds AHS six it was nip and tuck all the way until the closing minutes of the last period.
The Hinds Eaglettes, paced by Nancy Chapman with 27 points, sacked 4 point in the last period holding Raymond to only five.
The game started off with neither team being able to get the upper hand, the score at the end of the first two quarters was 12 to 12 and 21 to 21.
Chapman collected four quick field goals, aided by the defensive work of Louanne Carter and put the Eaglettes ahead 32 to 27 at the end of the third period.
The last quarter proved to the fate with Raymond losing two of their starting guards early in the period. Annette Gibbes, one of the finest guard in the tourney fouled out with six minutes in the playing time left and Raymond was never able to close the gap. The final score being 46 to 32 in favor of Hinds AHS Eaglettes.
High scorer was Nancy Chapman with 27 points followed by her teammate, Winnie Smith with 14.
High Scorer for the losers was Carol McNair with 13 backed up by “Puddin” Hutton with 12.
