Armchair Ponderings
To a Happy New Year

I said something mundane in passing to an individual like, Happy New Year! He replied, “it’s just another holiday.” That sort of got my hackles up. Of course, I didn’t know him, so I could not lecture him, but I took the time to lecture an imaginary person in my mind.

January 1st is a beginning of so many potential things. Perhaps it will be a beginning to give the leaders of both sides of that senseless war in the middle-east a chance to reflect and pause. It’s not OK to kill hundreds of people because they have different beliefs. That’s from either side. They are human beings with families that have hopes for the future, to see their children grow up instead of burying them.

In this country, we have hard time co-existing, and I don’t even know why. The weekly mass-shootings of innocent people has become an epidemic. So far nothing has been done to curb that. The two party system has outgrown its usefulness. It is a means divide a country, not better it. On second thought it might take us back to a monarchy or worst toa dictatorship. We tried a third party for the malcontents, that didn’t go so well, Remember Ross Perot? Maybe we just need to revamp both parties.

I had better stop here, because I could go on with my imaginary lecture to spoil my breakfast. So, I will simply day to all, a very meaningful, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
