A group of Terry and Raymond High School students just returned from Orlando, FL. They attended the TSA Competition and competed with schools from all across the nation. They enjoyed going to “Mid-Evil Times” dinner theater. The chaperone was Julie Ingram-Clements. Julie teaches Business, Marketing and Finance at both schools. This was a great experience for the students and will have memories they will never forget from this trip.
There will be an upcoming election in the Town of Terry for the office of Alderman. The seat was recently vacated due to the death of Terry Johnson. The date is set for July 30th. Please remember to come and cast your vote.
There are at least three historic houses being renovated in the town. It is wonderful to see the progress. It could start a revitalization for the town that is much needed at this time.
Recently I was told that Mike Broadwater has returned home from the hospital.
Please remember him and his family in prayer.
The crepe myrtles in the town are absolutely beautiful this year. I remember as a child walking to school and seeing the crepe myrtles lining the streets. At that time, as I recall. the blooms were the hot pink colors and now they are mixed with white ones. Gorgeous!
Remember: Vac-ation Bible School begins on July 14 at First Baptist Church of Terry and continues through the 17th. It will start each afternoon at 5:30 pm for meal time and session start up at 6 o’clock.
Four year olds through 6th grade are encouraged to attend.
Bingo in the Community Center will be second Thursday of the month again. Prizes and healthy snacks will be available. Everyone welcome.
The Friends of Terry will be presenting “The Beagles” on July 19 at the Terry Depot. Dinner is included as well. To obtain tickets to “ Music Through the Ages”, please call 601.983.1293.
The next Mayors Council event will be a Farmers Marker and Food Truck in the Village Square Park (across from City Hall) on Saturday, July 29th, starting at 8:30 am to 2 pm. The Mayoral Council was adopted by the Town of Terry after partnering with Ms State Dept of Health and the Jackson Heart Study. Jacquelyn Mitchell was chosen as coordinator.
Their purpose is to bring awareness to communities with health disparities. This is needed in our community with the population of older adults living in the town and surrounding area.
