The Terry High School football team will play Murrah High School at 7 pm on Friday evening, (Sept 18), the date of Homecoming for the school. Every year Homecoming is an event to look forward to since the school uses the grounds and veranda of my home for pictures. They have been coming for thirty years or so. All the beautiful formal gowns are so lovely and usually stop many cars going down the street.
The Terry Woman's Club will meet on Thursday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 3:45 pm. Members are invited to attend. Rhonda Stillwell and Mary Joyce Shelton will serve as hostesses.
First Baptist Church, Terry will host a Ladies Night dinner on Saturday evening. Sept 18th at 6 pm.
A very pleasant morning was spent in the historic town of Raymond recently. A visit to Magnolias on Main Street was interesting and resulted with the purchase of a fall candle. Then next door was a quaint coffee shop that I stopped in and enjoyed a flavorful cup of Hazelnut coffee.
The ride around the beautiful town, with all the historic houses, was impressive. Going through Hinds Community College brought back memories, especially when going by "Old Main" dorm and seeing the side steps we used to sit on with school friends crowded around talking and visiting.
Stringer Funeral Home of Crystal Springs announced the death of Jimmy Ray Lewis, age 68, on Aug 31, of Terry. He was the son of the late Harvey and Mary Lewis. We extend our sympathy to his wife, Donna, and to all his family and friends.
Join the MDAH at the Two Museums on Thursday, Sept 17 from 5 to 7 pm for History Happy Hour. There will be food, music and cash bar.
